The absolutely love the new QV Face Mask. It leaves my skin feeling really clean and it’s not at all drying like some masks can be.

Thank you for the opportunity to try out this product which you sent me as a prize. I have actually been looking for a face mask to give my skin a lift, so this prize came at an opportune time. I am a 54 year old woman with dry and sensitive skin, so the description of the product sounded very enticing. The mask comes in sophisticated-looking packaging, with attractive blue, silver and white colours. I like the plastic tube – it is a generous 75 gm size and is easy to store and use in the bathroom. I was attracted to the fact that the product is dermatologically tested, that it includes clay to cleanse the skin and safflower oil to moisturise it. The mask is a light, creamy colour and flows easily from the tube. It has no fragrance.

The instructions say to smooth it on to damp skin, leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water. When I first applied it on damp skin it initially felt oily and moisturising. I left it on for the full ten minutes. Towards the end, as the mask dried, my skin became very tight. After I washed it off, it felt clean but very dry. The driness continued the next day. The second time I used it I only left it on for five minutes, and did not really give the mask a chance to dry. My skin felt matt, but not dry after I removed the mask. It felt fresh and clean. I then smothered my face in moisturiser. This method worked much better for me, with my skin looking clean and moisturised.

My conclusions are: 1) This mask would be best for younger, oily skin as, on its own, I found it quite drying. 2) For all skin, I would only leave it on for about 5 minutes. It does the job quite sufficiently in that time. Any more and the skin starts to feel tight and dry. 3) Follow with a good moisturiser, as this mask doesn’t really moisturise. This is definitely needed for older skin. 4) The mask is very suitable for sensitive skin. I experienced no skin reactions from it.

I think I’d still prefer a mask that’s more moisturising, but this one is safe for my skin, so I’ll keep using it until I find the “perfect” one.
