3 ways to protect your heart
Posted 25 February 10Woman’s Day Health contributor Dana Gottesman reports and talks about a few foods proven to contribute to heart health.
- Grab a glass of milk. The lowfat or fat-free variety may help protect against kidney disease, which can increase your risk of cardiovascular disease, says a new American Journal of Clinical Nutrition study.
- Have a spud. Potatoes may lower blood pressure, thanks to their potassium content (eat the skin!).
- Go green. A compound in broccoli (sulforaphane) may reverse the damage done to heart blood vessels by diabetes, according to a new study in the journal Diabetes.
